Stylist Liz Uy felt duty-bound to explain the controversial gown worn by Maine Mendoza recently. Siya kasi ang pumili ng gown na isusuot ni Yaya Dub sa isang event sa Philippine Arena recently.
“Maine’s gown was chosen among several gowns because its style best fitted the show’s Cinderella theme. The gown, which was first showcased at Francis Libiran’s fashion show as part of his Bangalore collection, was purchased by Tape, Inc. for the event,” she explained to Style Bible.
Na-hurt siguro ang ego ni Liz when comments on social media against her were so nasty. “So @lizzzuy is the new Camp Suki and Eloys? Home of second gowns and costumes. When you do a national TV event, make sure the wardrobe is not recycled!” tweet ng isang @krizzy_kalerqui.
Todo-explain din si Juan Sarte, ang make-up artist ni Maine. He felt it was wrong to think that the gown is recycled. “There was a custom-made gown for Maine but it turned out medyo plain for the event (considering one week lang ito from announcement to actual event).
Liz wanted it (Maine’s outfit) to be a notch higher for the big event that’s why she pulled out ready-to-wear gowns from designers. “The Francis Libiran gown was a pull-out/fall back pero mas bumagay kasi sa modern Cinderella theme you all enjoyed.
Kaya rin naka-tail coat si Alden (in case you didn’t understand why). “Liz cleared with Francis Libiran and he said it has never been worn except in his fashion show. It’s not a hand-me-down from Kim Chiu because she doesn’t own the gown.
Liz didn’t ‘recycle’ the gown, because hindi naman siya ang stylist ni Kim. “Binili ang gown! Sa panahon na almost lahat ng clothes na sinusuot ng artista sa TV at appearances ay ‘hiram’…bravo kay Mr. Tony Tuviera for buying the gown! So ano ang recycle doon?
“Kung na-achieve ng buong show na pasayahin ka at nag-enjoy ka naman, bakit kailangan gawing nega ang event?” ‘Yan ang mahabang paliwanag ni Juan. Actually, nagpalusot pa raw si Francis Libiran when he said na he made it for the Spring/Summer collection.
Sana raw sinabi niyang 2013 pa ang gown. Nairita kasi ang marami dahil dated na ang gown pero ibinenta pa niya kay Liz para isuot ni Maine.
