Nag-final performance na for the meantime ang “Kanser@35 The Musicale” last Saturday sa AFP Theater sa ila-lim ng Gantimpala Theater Foundation under the direction of course ni kaibigang Frannie Zamora.
Our baby Michael Pangilinan who played Crisostomo Ibarra got the audience approval and the press’ two thumbs up dahil sa husay nito sa pag-arte at pag-awit.
Kahit sobrang pagod ni Michael that day because he had to do the matinee show at 1 p.m. and its gala at 7 p.m., sobrang saya naman niya dahil everybody’s congratulating him.
Kami naman nina Richard Pinlac, Boobsie and Beki Belo who were at the audience ay naiyak sa tuwa dahil hindi kami makapaniwala that Michael will nail it.
Alam mo yung feeling na pinapanood mo ang anak mong nagsu-show – isang materyal na napakahirap ga-win dahil iba ang tunog and very historical at that – whew! Nakaka-proud ka talaga, anak Michael.
Sana ay ganito ka palagi. Sana tuloy-tuloy pa ang mga blessings na dadaloy sa i-yong singing career. You’re such a genius baby! Anyway, Michael will do an excerpt sa isang musicale naman on Cauayan, Isabela’s founding anniversary this coming Oct. 9.
Makakasama naman niya dito sina Jak Roberto, Sanya Lopez and Lou Veloso. Aside from this, nakatango na kami sa gagawing musicale version ng “Maynila Sa Kuko Ng Liwanag” ni Direk Joel Lamangan early next year.
Michael will do the role played by Bembol Roco in its movie version. Naku, isang malaking challenge ito for Michael though hindi naman siguro ito kasing hirap ng “Kanser@35” dahil medyo pop ang tunog nito where Michael is best at.
But just the same, a musicale is a musicale and teatro pa rin ang discipline nito kaya it’s no ordinary show, right? Congrats, Michael! Ikaw na!
