One writer, Mike Sandejas, came to the defense of Lea Salonga who was bashed for her “kababawan” aria.
“Lea Salonga did so much for our culture,” said Mike in his article, “The Assasination of Lea Salonga”.
“Because of the way she was treated recently, Filipinos do not deserve her.
Antonio Luna was massacred by fellow Filipinos, the same was virtually done to Lea,” Mike added.
“She is as much a Filipino Hero as Heneral Luna in the recent trending film.
Difference being that she won her battles against foreigners and she wasn’t murdered. But considering how much she did for this nation, those remarks about her by her fellow Filipinos were like bullets shot into her heart,” say pa ni Mike.
But one fan wailed, “Because she judged…and now the people judge her like the way you judge aldub fans/ joey de leon and the way I will judge Ms. Lea. Siya una nag tweet ng negative. Will you expect people to react positive? I don’t think so.”
“Bullseye! And that being said, hindi ba yun ang kababawan? granted she has brought a lot of recognition for our country but that doesn’t give her the right to act all high and mighty and all-knowing.
I am a fan of Lea, yes. I admire her voice. She is definitely an asset. But does being who she is, give her the authority over everything? I don’t think so. #NagtatanongLangDinPo,” said another guy.
“I don’t watch noontime shows. I’ve heard about aldub. I’ve watched it. I’m not in the show business but I know it. Who wouldn’t? It’s plain stupid for Ms. Lea na sabihin na hindi nya alam ang aldub. she’s a celebrity for God’s sake.
At yun din ang dahilan na iisipin ng tao na si-nungaling sya,” comment ng isa.
