IBINASURA ng Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221 ang petisyon ni dating Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) governor Zaldy Ampatuan na makapagpiyansa.
Ipinalabas ng korte ang desisyon noong Setyembre 15, bagamat natanggap ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang desisyon kahapon.
“I have never doubted for a single moment the strength of the evidence of the State against the principal accused in the Maguindanao Massacre case,” sabi ni de Lima.
Idinagdag ni de Lima na nagpapatunay lamang ito na malakas ang kaso laban sa mga sangkot sa Maguindanao massacre.
“The denial of the bail petition of Zaldy Ampatuan only shows that the focus of the DOJ prosecution team on this case is unwavering. It also shows that the prosecution’s evidence is strong, and that pursuant to settled procedure and jurisprudence, the accused will remain in detention throughout the duration of the trial until conviction and sentencing,” dagdag ni de Lima.
Pinuri rin ni de Lima ang prosekusyon sa pamumuno ni City Prosecutor Archimedes Manabat.
Aabot sa 300 piraso ng mga ebidensiya ang iprinisinta para tutulan ang petisyon ni Ampatuan para makapagpiyansa.
Bukod kay Zaldy Ampatuan, daan-daan ang kinasuhan kaugnay ng pagpatay sa 58 katao noong Nob. 23, 2009. Inquirer.net
