Nitong Lunes ay binigo ng 23-anyos na si Nesthy Petecio ang baguhang si Kawano Sana ng Japan sa quarterfinal round para umusad sa Final Four.
Naiwasan ni Petecio ang karamihan sa suntok na ibinato sa kanya ni Sana at sinagot niya ito ng mga malalakas na right straight para makuha ang panalo.
“She’s (Sana) a crafty fighter . She has an unorthodox defensive style that I had to figure out so my shots would connect. We have to watch out for her in the coming years” sabi ni Petecio.
Pakay ni Petecio na maging kampeon dito para makabawi sa dalawang pilak na kanyang nasungkit sa katatapos na Southeast Asian Games sa Singapore at sa Women’s World Championships sa Jeju, Korea noong Nobyembre.
Makakasagupa ni Petecio sa semis si Basumatary Pwilao ng India na nanalo kay hometown favorite Liu Piaopiao sa quarterfinals.
Ang iba pang Pinay boxers na maagang namaalam dito ay sina Josie Gabuco, Irish Magno at Riza Pasuit.
