NOONG isang araw ay nakatanggap ako ng message sa e-mail from the camp of Atty. Ferdie Topacio saying that on March 10, 2015 ay pormal na siyang nag-withdraw as legal counsel ng hunk actor na si Aljur Abrenica sa kasong kinakaharap nito laban sa GMA 7. Here is the complete message.
“We announce today our formal withdrawal as legal counsels for Mr. Aljur Abrenica in his case for Judicial Confirmation of Rescission of Contract against GMA Network, Inc. (Civil Case No. R-QZN-14-06761-CV, Regional Trial Court of Quezon City).
“The decision was reached mutually after conferring with our client and his intention to try to effect a settlement of the case with GMA. We were informed that certain key officials of the GMA Artist Center has made our withdrawal a condition for entertaining talks of conciliation with Mr. Abrenica.
Since we have always considered as paramount the best interests of our client, we have expressed no objections to a formal withdrawal, which we have filed today in court.
“We are however alarmed at the consistent pattern of cover-up and concealment on the part of certain personnel from the GMA Artist Center regarding their management style.
The top management of GMA Network – the Gozons and Duavits – are good Christians and members in good standing of the Philippine Bar, who we are sure will not tolerate any misdeeds on the part of any official or employee of GMA.
“It is high time that GMA’s top management should realize that there are people in the GMA Artist Center who will exert every effort to hide their incompetence and lack of skill in running the Artist Center, which has resulted in the exodus of artists from GMA 7 to other networks, and widespread disgruntlement among its other talents.
What is even more alarming is that, on past occasions, these people have actively participated in covering up acts which may constitute serious crimes such as child abuse and lascivious conduct.
“We feel that their demand for our withdrawal is to prevent information we have acquired during the preparation for trial in the Abrenica case from being publicized, thus exposing the shenanigans of some Artist Center people.
“We wish to clarify that we continue to hold GMA Network, Inc., especially their news and public affairs division, and the management, in the highest esteem, as in fact, we have been in constant communication with their lawyers for an acceptable compromise before our withdrawal.
That is why we are saddened that some in the Artist Center management, through their acts, are tarnishing the GMA 7 brand.
“We have been honored to serve Mr. Abrenica and, in some small measure, to have protected his legal rights.
We wish him more success and we hope that he will be treated better by the GMA Artist Center officers who were the cause of the lawsuit in the first place.”
