HS basketball tilts

AFTER Saint Jude Catholic School romped away with the title in the Developmental Division (for players age 11 and under) of the 2nd Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association (PCYAA) basketball competitions last week, here come the other three divisional championships at stake starting in January 2015.

The Boys High School (Juniors Division) tournament, which will feature eight schools, will get underway on January 6, 2015 at the Uno High School Gym with 2014 runner-up Saint Jude Catholic School tangling with 2014 third-placer Grace Christian College  and Pace Academy taking on Makati Gospel Church-NLCA.

Two days later (January 8), Philippine Cultural College will meet defending champion Uno High School in a lone game (7 p.m.).

The official opening ceremonies (also to be held at the Uno HS Gym) will be held on January 10 with a quadrupleheader – Philippine Cultural College vs. Pace Academy (11:00 a.m.), Makati Gospel Church-NLCA vs. Saint Jude Catholic School (1:00 p.m.), Uno HS vs. St. Peter the Apostle School (2:30 p.m.) and Jubilee Christian Academy vs. Grace Christian College.

The Aspirants Boys Division competitions for players aged 13 and under will unwrap on January 8 with reigning titlist Philippine Cultural College traveling to the Uno HS Gym to face the Uneans at 5:30 p.m.

The other participating teams are 2014 third-placer Pace Academy, Saint Peter the Apostle School, 2014 runner-up Makati Gospel Church-NLCA, Saint Jude Catholic School, Jubilee Christian Academy and Grace Christian College.

The inaugural Ladies High School tournament, which features six schools, will open on January 7 at the Uno HS Gym with a twinbill – Saint Jude Catholic School vs. Uno High School (5:00 p.m.) and Philippine Cultural College vs. Grace Christian College (6:30 p.m.).

Other teams in participation are the San Juan City-based Immaculate Conception Academy and Jubilee Christian Academy.
