We got invited early this week to watch the full Mother’s Day made for TV movie of TV5 na More Than Words starring Sarah together with Alice Dixson, Jackie Lou Blanco, Ariel Rivera and the new TV5 freelancer Carl Guevara from the direction of Jon Red and the script of one of our mentors Keiko Aquino.
Four of the stars were there, Sarah, Alice, Jackielou and Carl and the whole production team of the made for TV movie.
Emily (Sarah) is the “child” of Vianna (Jackielou) and Samuel (Ariel) na isa palang ampon.
Emily is always suspect of Vianna’s lack of love for her that is why to Vianna’s eyes, palagi na lang nagrerebelde si Emily. Coming home from Canada to finish her college course, she’s a disappointment to Vianna lalo na when Emily decides to do band with Edwin (Carl) and teach ex-convict females.
Dito niya nakilala si Sabel (Alice), isang utal na ex convict who is good in cooking but could not express herself properly. She has her own mission.
Gusto niyang matutong magsulat at magbasa dahil she wants her lost daughter know what happened sa kanilang dalawa at kung bakit sila nagkahiwalay when her daughter was just a baby not knowing na ang magtuturo pala sa kaniyang magbasa at magsulat para mabuo ang sulat para sa nawawalang anak ay ang tunay niyang anak.
The story is simple, good enough for a TV movie and TV5 is wise enough not to sell this even as an indie movie dahil its perfection lies in the fact that it’s a TV movie nga otherwise baka marami kaming hanapin sa kuwento.
Now, before something happened between us and Sarah that same night, we already promised Ms. Camille Gomba-Montano, the movie’s PM and the corporate PR of TV5 that we will review the movie dahil we’re okay with the project and that we feel Sarah still has the star quality even after more than a year of absence so this is not kowtowing to her because of what happened; planado na ito on our part.
Having said that, noon pa namin alam that Sarah is a star material. She is our bet noon pa man sa Starstruck V and we are one of her biggest supporters specially when she won the female award.
Hindi ba’t isa kami sa ilang nagsulat nang panghihinayang when she decided to do a hiatus in acting dahil she’s almost there?
Fortunately, hindi nga nawala ang kaniyang kinang and we’re glad she’s back. Seriously.
In the same breadth, nanghihinayang naman kami na pinakawalan ng GMA si Carl because he has the matinee idol looks and he’s not bad in acting naman. Still, as long as he’s working, it’s good enough for us.
Alice plays the part of an illiterate utal okay din. Natawa kami at the start na para hindi mapansin ang kaniyang Canadian accent, ginawa siyang utal but it works.
As to Jackielou, it must have been her characterization na palaging galit, kami ang napagod sa galit niya and constant walk out every time she finishes her scene.
Parang si Ariel lang ang hindi tumatak but then it was his character that is not fully fleshed out. Kung may misgivings kami, it’s the lighting. There are three TV screens around.
Sa main screen, when it’s dark, it’s almost all blue napapatingin kami sa tabing screen namin na super dark naman. When it’s light, the main screen is almost impossible to watch kasi shining lahat.
We will not find fault in the camera works, siguro sa screen na lang. More than Words will screen tonight sa TV5 at 9 p.m. so try to catch up mga Kapatid bago bumalik finally si Sarah sa home network niya.
Now, we need some more explanation on what happened that night. Our biggest fault is that we assumed too much on our relationship with Sarah.
Naging FC (feeling close) kami sa kaniya when we called her “potah” in front of several people not even thinking it will hurt and insult her.
Sarah was actually nice enough dahil while it happened before the actual presscon at nakauwi na nga kami at bumibiyahe papunta ng hospital, she was able to go through the presscon, she was able to contain herself before crying her heart out on boyfriend Richard Gutierrez.
If our first apology read like Sarah is too sensitive, again it’s our fault of not using the right choice of words. We’d like to close this sorry chapter by apologizing again. Mea culpa, our bad, it will never happen again.
