Aabot ba sa Game 7 ang PBA Finals?

ALAM ng SanMig Coffee na kailangan nitong tapusin ang Rain or Shine mamayang gabi at umiwas sa winner-take-all Game Seven sa Biyernes.

Kaya naman inaasahang itotodo na ng Coffee Mixers ang lakas nito kontra Elasto Painters sa Game Six ng  best-of-seven Finals ng PLDT myDSL PBA Philippine Cup mamayang alas-8 ng gabi sa  Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon Cty.

Nabigo ang San Mig Coffee na maibulsa ang titulo noong Linggo nang ito’y matalo sa Rain or Shine, 81-74, sa Game Five. Magkaganito man ay lamang pa rin ang Mixers sa serye, 3-2, at may dalawang tsansang maibulsa ang ikaanim na Philippine Cup title.

Kung magagawa nila ito, sila ang magiging koponang may pinakamaraming all-Filipino championships sa kasaysayan ng PBA.
Para kay coach Tim Cone at Mixers, kailagang makumpleto na nila ang misyon mamaya.

“We don’t want a Game Seven because that will give us a lot of pressure and give some advantage to Rain Or Shine,” ani Cone na nagsabing medyo kinapos ang intensity ng Mixers sa Game Five.

“The hardest thing to do is to close out a series. Alam namin iyon. Pero pipilitin namin sa Game Six. Ayaw namin umabot sa Game Seven,” ani two-time Most Valuable Player James Yap na gumawa ng 18 puntos sa Game Five.

Nagtala rin ng 18 puntos si Marc Pingris samantalang nagdagdag ng 11 si Alex Mallari at 10 si Mark Barroca. Nakabawi naman sa masamang performance sa Game Three at Four si Jeff Chan na nagtala ng game-high 24 puntos sa Game Five.

Sinuportahan  siya ni Beau Belga na gumawa ng 10 at Chris Tiu na nagtala ng 9. “We ground out a win but we’re still behind in this series. One thing we can promise the fans is that we’re not going to give up and we will fight it out until the end,” ani Rain or Shine coach Joseller “Yeng” Guiao na naghahangad na masungkit ang   una niyang Philippine Cup title.

Umaasa si Guiao na parehong pumutok sina Chan at Paul Lee ngayon. “Ang problema kasi ay hindi nagkakasabay ang magandang laro nina Lee at Chan,” aniya.

Sa Game Five, si Lee ay nagtala lang ng walong puntos. Siya ay gumawa ng 23 sa Game Three at 28 sa Game Four kung saan natalo ang Elasto Painters.
