We totally enjoyed “Kimmy Dora Kambal Sa Kiyeme” but not so much sa sequel “na Kimmy Dora and The Temple of Kiyeme” so happy to note that fun and funny are both back in the third installment which was actually a prequel.
We always say that Eugene is the most intelligent comedienne we ever had and so kahit three times na niyang ginagampanan ang kambal na Kimmy and Dora, the characters remain fresh and not redundant.
Kung mayabang si Kimmy sa first two movies, dito, pasimula pa lang ang kayabangan niya. At the same time, very consistent si Eugene sa pagiging Dora niya which is the biggest laugh of the movie.
You will actually differentiate the Kimmy and the Dora in all scenes kahit na there are certain scenes na pareho ang nararamdaman nila like the first entrance of Rodin and also the first entrance of Jansen (guest appearance of Dingdong Dantes).
For this alone, napakalaki talaga ng chance ni Eugene sana na makuha ang Festival Best Actress kahit comedy ang role niya dahil she showed the right emotion and pathos in the drama scenes as well.
May aside kami, hindi lang pala dalawang Eugene ang mapapanood sa Kimmy Dora kundi nine, count them, nine. In one scene where Kimmy cloned Dora to six more, one fluid sequence ito from Muay Thai to Giyomi to twerking that really got the biggest laugh.
Tapos, do not stand up yet after the credit dahil may “awards” night pa where there are three Eugenes, Kimmy, Dora and the real Ms. Eugene Domingo. That makes the movie more duplicity than “Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy” na may apat na Vice Ganda lang.
Sam looks so fresh din in the movie and doing an offbeat role bilang kontrabida. His action sequence is really good he should consider this as another career move.
And if he needs a third career change, he can do sexy dahil nakaka-L siya sa swimming leotard scene niya kung saan pilitin mang itago ng black color ang harapan niya, umuumbok ang kaniyang crotch.
Like all “Kimmy Dora” movies, guest star galore ang prequel. Nandito ang original loveteams ng dalawang Eugene, sina Dingdong and Zanjoe Marudo in realistic enough first chance encounters.
Piolo Pascual who is one of the executive producers of the movie also did a cameo role bilang magbubuko. As we have written, original partner to Eugene sa stage play “Bona” na si Edgar Allan is there too wearing the actual boxer shorts in the play plus the stage director na si Soxy Topacio. Eugene’s friends Mylene Dizon (who is in 10,000 Hours) and John Lapus (who is in Boy Golden) naman are there too.
“Kimmy Dora” is still very enjoyable. Hindi na ito laugh a minute just like the first movie but when it’s funny, it’s really laugh out loud. The best part of the movie’s funniness is actually when Eugene is ridiculing her past real performances.
Imagine Dora and not Eugene doing Bona just like in the stage play or Dora as Eugene asking the kontrabida Bogart anong klaseng acting ang kailangan sa kaniya, very much like her question as Eugene sa “Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank”.
Hindi man nanalo si Eugene bilang Festival Actress, word of mouth ang magiging big boost nito sa box-office and may take over the third slot of “Pagpag” na so far ang laban lang talaga ay ang hysteria sa love team nina Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo.
