Pura Luka Vega pinawalang-sala ng korte sa ‘Ama Namin’ drag performance

PINAWALANG-SALA ng Manila Regional Trial Court sa isa niyang kaso si Pura Luka Vega kaugnay ng kanyang “Ama Namin” drag performance.

Nagalit ang mga Pinoy lalo na ang mga deboto ng Itim na Nazareno kay Pura Luka Vega o Amadeus Fernando Pagente sa tunay na buhay dahil nga sa umano’y pambababoy niya kay Lord.

Sa 20-pahinang desisyon na may petsang June 10, inabsuwelto ng Manila RTC Branch 184 si Pura Luka sa kasong paglabag sa Article 201 (2)(b)(3) at (2)(b)(5) ng Revised Penal Code na may kaugnayan sa Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (RA 10175).

Nakasaad sa Article 201 ang “immoral doctrines, obscene publications and exhibitions, and indecent shows.”

Base sa resolusyon na inilabas ni Judge Czarina Samonte-Villanueva, “Wherefore, premises considered, for failure of the prosecution to establish guilt beyond reasonable doubt, Amadeus Fernando Pagente, also known as Pura Luka Vega, is hereby acquitted for violation Article 201 (2)(b)(3) and (2)(b)(5) of the Revised Penal Code, in relation to Republic Act 10175,” ang sabi pa sa naturang desisyon.

Dagdag pa, “Though the prosecution fell short of the required quantum of proof in the prosecution of the criminal case, the Court takes this opportunity to remind Pura Luka to be circumspect in his choice of medium or subject of his performances as a drag artist taking into account the society he belongs to. It is basic in the concept of social coexistence.

“This is not to curtail his freedom or rights nor to regulate his acts to belong to a presumed majority but more to be compassionate on the community as a whole, especially with the accessibility of social media which makes it easy to record, upload and circulate materials which are readily available for consumption of the public,” nakasaad pa sa desisyon.

Ipinag-utos din ng korte na ibalik na ang bail o piyansa ng drag performer na P72,000.

Siyempre, agad na nagpasalamat ang drag artist sa pamamagitan ng kanyang post sa  X (dating Twitter), “Thank you for this wonderful news. One more case left. Laban lang.”

Matatandaang August, 2023, nang kasuhan ng Hijos Del Nazareno, mga deboto ng Itim na Nazareno, si Pura Luka Vega dahil sa kanyang “Ama Namin” drag performance, habang nakasuot ng tulad ng kay Hesus.

Anila, ang ginawa ni Pura Luka Vega ay “acts and actuations constitute a direct attack on our Lord, our God and savior, Jesus Christ.”

Idineklara rin siyang persona non grata sa iba’t ibang lugar kabilang na ang Manila, Laguna, Cebu City at General Santos City.
