Red Sternberg ‘nagbilin’ bago pumanaw, ‘Vikings’ ang gustong tema ng burol
Red Sternberg at ang mga kaibigan at co-stars sa ‘T.G.I.S.’
LIMANG araw bago pumanaw ang dating Kapuso actor na si Red Sternberg ay nakausap pa siya ng kaibigang si Bobby Andrews.
Kuwento ni Bobby, May 22 nang magkachikahan sila ni Red, at namatay ang aktor noong May 27 dahil sa cardiac arrest sa Amerika, ilang araw bago naman niya ipagdiwang ang kanyang 51st birthday.
Nagkasama sina Bobby at Red sa dating youth-oriented program ng GMA 7 na “T.G.I.S.” na umere noong 1995 at natapos taong 1999.
“I just spoke to him nu’ng May 22. Nag-usap kami sa phone. Ang tagal naming nag-usap,” kuwento ni Bobby sa “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda”.
“That’s why it’s so hard to accept because I was just talking to the guy a week before, so how can this happen? Ang hirap, at that age, he was working out. He was losing weight.
“He was very excited to come home. He’s gonna bring his daughter. They’re gonna spend a month here, bonding sila,” lahad pa ng aktor.

Dagdag pa niya, talagang na-shock siya nang malamang namaalam na ang kaibigan, “Hindi ako maka-react. How could this happen? And that’s it. I just couldn’t deal with it. It’s hard, e.”
Bukod kay Bobby, bumisita rin sa “Fast Talk” ang dalawa pa sa mga kasamahan ni Red sa “T.G.I.S.”, sina Angelu de Leon at Michael Flores.
“The world stopped. Parang nakakatulala. It’s so close. Normally, mababalitaan mo, tatay ng kaibigan mo, but this one…” naluluhang sey ni Angelu nang malamang patay na si Red.
“We were all excited to talk to each other and then birthday mo, parang lahat kami…I’m in disbelief. Walang makapaniwala na he’s gone,” dagdag pa hg konsehal ng Pasig.
Pagpapatuloy ni Angelu, “A few days daw, before he died, they talked about his funeral. They were talking about their own funeral.
“And parang Red mentioned na gusto niya Vikings yung funeral niya. So, lahat kami, sobrang classic Red na ang gusto niyang funeral, e, Vikings.
“Gusto niya masaya, walang malungkot, which is talagang him. We were asking, ‘Uuwi ba si Sandy (wife ni Red)? Anong mangyayari? Can we do something here for Red?’
“The last time, I talked to him, he was so excited about his bunso kasi only boy niya, e. Yun ang time na ini-enjoy niya yung fatherhood. Talagang this is a different side of Red.
“Yung kung paano namin naramdaman kung paano siya maging kaibigan,” aniya pa.
Pahayag pa ni Angelu, “And yun ang isa sa pinakamasakit, e. You’re just turning 51, and days before his birthday.
“It’s sad. We want them to come home. Ako, I want them to come home. Talk about Red, the way we remembered, and them, talking about Red the way he is.
“Kasi, to be honest, we were all looking forward to getting together. Matagal na naman yung sinasabi na sana nga, and umoo lang, umoo lang yung mga tao sa States para mangyari nga,” saad pa ng aktres at public servant.
