“There is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment,” ang bahagi ng pahayag ng international actor sa kontrobersyal na pananampal niya kay Chris Rock on national television at iba pang platforms.
Sa ibinahagi niyang video sa IG, isa-isa niyang sinagot ang mga kontrobersyal na tanong mula sa kanyang mga social media followers.
“Over the last few months, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and personal work. You asked a lot of fair questions that I wanted to take some time to answer,” ang nakasaad naman sa introduction ng kanyang Instagram video.
Unang tanong sa aktor, bakit daw hindi siya nag-apologize agad kay Chris sa kanyang acceptance speech matapos manalo ng best actor sa Academy Awards para sa pelikulang “King Richard.”
Sagot ni Will, “I was fogged out by that point. It’s all fuzzy. I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk and when he is, he will reach out.
“So I will say to you Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you are ready to talk,” aniya pa.
Sinabi rin ng Hollywood star na nag-sorry rin siya sa pamilya ni Chris, “I wasn’t thinking how many people got hurt in that moment so I want to apologize to Chris’ mother. I want to apologize to Chris’ family, specifically Tony Rock (kapatid ni Chris). We had a great relationship. Tony Rock was my man. This is probably irreparable.”
Nakatrabaho ni Will ang kapatid ni Will na si Tony sa sitcom na “All of Us” (2003 to 2007).
“I’m not going to try to unpack all of that right now, but I can say to all of you, there is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment. There’s no part of me that thinks that is the optimal way to handle a feeling of disrespect or insults,” pahayag ng aktor.
Naitanong din sa Oscar winner ang, “After Jada rolled her eyes, did she tell you to do something?”
“I made a choice on my own from my own experiences, from my history with Chris. Jada had nothing to do with it. I’m sorry babe and I want to say sorry to my kids and family for the hit I brought on.”
Mensahe pa niya, “To all my fellow nominees, this is like a community. I won because you voted for me and it really breaks my heart to have stolen and tarnished your moment… ‘I’m sorry’ really isn’t sufficient.”
Sa huli, humingi rin siya ng paumanhin sa mga taong sumusuporta sa kanya na nadismaya at nagalit sa ginawa niya kay Chris. Aniya, tao lang din siya na nagkakamali at nakagagawa ng kasalanan.
“Disappointing people is my central trauma. I hate when I let people down so it hurts me psychologically and emotionally to know I did not live up to people’s image and impression of me.
“And the work I am trying to do is I am deeply remorseful and I am trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself.
“I’m human and I made a mistake and I am trying not to think of myself as a piece of sh*t so I would say to those people I know it was confusing, I know it was shocking but I promise you I am deeply devoted and committed to putting light, and love, and joy into the world and, you know, if you hang on I promise we will be able to be friends again,” mensahe pa ni Will Smith.
