SA ginanap na virtual mediacon para sa 6-part BL o Boy’s Love series na “Oh Mando” ay hindi naiwasang tanungin si Alex Diaz kung okay sa kanyang gumawa uli ng ganitong project kasama ang kaibigan at inili-link sa kanyang si Tony Labrusca.
“I think to dissect the situation, I need to take complete ownership sa lahat ng mga bagay sa buhay natin.
“In terms of clarification, wala na akong kailangan i-clarify kasi I think nakailang interview na ako and I think kami din ni Tony alam namin na kahit anong sabihin namin, you know people will really talk and the issue won’t die because it’s on the internet,” panimulang sagot ng aktor.
“To answer the question, alam ko naman na kapag nag-project kami ni Tony, maraming manonood. Papatok siya because of the issue. So if the script is really good, if the script is fantastic, why not?” paliwanag ng aktor.
Hindi naman itinanggi ng Cornerstone talent na gulung-gulo ang isipan niya noong pumutok ang balitang bisexual siya pero sa kabilang banda ay nagpasalamat na rin siya dahil makakahinga na siya nang maluwag at kikilos sa gusto niya.
“I know the scandals I’ve been involved in. I’m very well aware of that and I take responsibility for that.
“When you become an actor, your kind of signing away a part of your life to your fans and I think to an extent, sa mga nagmamahal sa atin, we do owe them an explanation. Even the ones that don’t love us.
“The more I talk about it, the more I understand myself better. In terms of being mas careful, I feel like before I was so careful and when you are so careful trying to keep yourself from doing anything wrong, when you explode, grabe talaga yung explosion, di ba?
“Now I’m at this point where watching what I say, watching how I act, watching what I do, grabe I feel like I’m in such a good place where I don’t have to be careful. Now I’m paid to be exactly who I am. So it’s a good feeling,” pahayag nito.
Nabanggit pang sa fans lang niya itinago ang kanyang sexual preference pero ang mga kaibigan niya at talent management ay alam ang tungkol dito.
“Actually, they know naman, it’s the fans na kailangang itago,” saad ni Alex.
At napalitan naman ang kanyang agam-agam nang ialok sa kanya itong “Oh Mando” na ipinagdiinan ni direk Eduardo Roy, Jr. handog ng Dreamscape Entertainment at Found Films.
“Unang-una sa lahat, kung paano pinresent sa akin yung project was that point in my life I was actually going back to Canada. I was there to take a rest and possibly to start over. Maybe I ran my course here and I just thought to kind of accept the reality of my career.
“And then direk Edong talked to my manager about a role for me and I was kind of waiting for a sign. I thought maybe this was God’s way of telling me that, ‘You have to come back and show everybody that you’re just as entitled to the dream as everybody else.’
“No matter where you came from or no matter what you’ve gone through, no matter what you’re struggling with on the inside or at home, the dream is for everybody. So we’re all entitled to it.’ So that’s why I said yes to the project.
“I’m excited for Oh, Mando! to come out kasi finally, mapapanood ako sa isang lead role, makikita niyo talaga yung craft ko. It’s such a big role and I feel like I don’t mind answering these questions kasi kung mapapagod ako, paano na lahat ng mga katulad ko na, they’re also demanding answers from themselves. So I’m excited for this project kasi paunti-unti matatabunan yung issue with my craft,” mahabang sabi ng aktor.
Kabilang din sina Kokoy de Santos at Barbie Imperial sa “Oh Mando” na hango sa awiting “Oh Mandy” ni Barry Manilow na ginawa lang Pinoy version ni direk Eduardo, Jr..
