MAHILIG sa OPM ang Kapamilya TV host na si Gretchen Ho kaya naman tuwang-tuwa siya nang malamang siya ang napiling host para sa “The Search for The Sound of 7K Christmas Songs”.
Produced by new music label 7K Sounds, ang search na ito ay naglalayong maka-discover ng mga bagong Filipino Christmas Songs that will energize the music scene tuwing holiday season.
“This is not about me but it is an honor and privilege for me,” ani Gretchen sa media launch kung saan nakasama rin niya ang ABS-CBN resident director na si Alco Guerrero na siyang creative director ng 7K Sounds, co- host and producer LA Santos at si Jett Pangan, na siyang nag-host ng digital presscon kamakailan.
Patuloy na chika ni Gretchen, “My only asset here is that I support OPM. I love that we’re starting this season with Christmas songs para maiba naman ang hangin sa social media spaces.
“Helping artists amid unemployment and the pandemic, it’s the best time to do this! It’s not impossible to discover new talents with this platform,” sey pa ng TV host.
Dagdag pa niya, “I’m excited to meet and feature in my different shows, natutuwa talaga ako kapag nakakarinig ako ng tunog-Filipino. Kaya it’s an honor to be here (as host) kahit hindi po ako singer. Ha-hahaha!
“I am a big fan and I can assure you na kung anuman ‘yung kanta ng mga paborito ninyong banda ay memorized ko ‘yun!” dagdag pa niya.
Naniniwala rin ang dalaga na malaki ang nagagawa ng musika sa tao para maging positibo lalo na ngayong may pandemya.
“During the quarantine, one of the ways that we cope talaga is listening to music, eh. And sa tingin ko, as we become more creative with what we do online, dapat talaga mayroong space for Filipino music and I think it’s high time that we dig even deeper.
“And we know that OPM has been on a resurges for the past years with the so many originals coming up from different artists, talagang malakas ang OPM ngayon,” lahad pa ng dating volleyball player.
Samantala, hindi lang mga taga-Metro Manila ang mabibigyan ng chance sa proyektong ito at 7K Sounds dahil pati mga taga-probinsiya na may talento sa paglikha ng musika at pagkanta ay mabibigyan ng platform sa online show na ito.
Ayon kay Alco, “Napakalungkot ng taon. Sino ba ang sector na nag-suffer din? Ang daming artists and musicians na humingi ng tulong pero ‘di man lang sila na-recognize sa mga ayuda! Kaya nga huwag na nating isuko pati Pasko na walang tugtugan.”
Sabi naman ni LA, “It’s an emotional time for me kasi sobra ang pangarap ko na umangat pa tayo. Deserving ng mga Pinoy na marating din ang na-achieve ng K-Pop.
“Nandito na tayo, tuloy lang ang push sa bagong platforms to help other artists like me lalo na ngayong napakahirap ng buhay. We just want to help,” aniya pa.
Bukod kina Gretchen at LA, makakasama rin nila bilang host ng “The Search for the Sound of 7K Christmas Songs” ang rising artist and vlogger Iman Franchesca, at former vocalist ng General Luna na si Nicole Asensio.
The ultimate goal of “The Search for the Sound of 7K Christmas Songs,” which will be aired Fridays at 7 p.m. on the 7K Sounds Facebook Page next month, is to harness all kinds of regional music.
