Makauuwi na sa bansa bukas ang labinganim na Filipino Seafarers na na-stranded sa kanilang barko sa China.
Ayon kay Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Lou Y. Arriola, sa 16 na seafarers, 11 ay mula sa Ocean Star 86 na na-stranded sa Dongshan simula noong March 2020.
Kasama ding uuwi ang limang seafarers ng M/V Maria P., na stranded sa Ningde simula naman July 2020.
Ang dalawang Chinese fishing vessels ay naapektuhan ng “no disembarkation” policy ng China.
Maliban sa mga seafarer, mayroon ding tatlong land-based overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) mula China ang uuwi sa bansa.
Darating sila lulan ng chartered flight ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) alas 11:00 ng umaga bukas, Martes (Sept. 29).
“The repatriation of the Filipino seafarers is a product of the Philippine Government’s determination to bring home any distressed Filipino abroad whether on land or at sea. Rest assured that the DFA remains committed to protecting and promoting the rights and welfare of our OFWs,” ayon kay Arriola.
