NATULUNGAN ng Department of Labor and Employment ang 59 overseas Filipino workers sa Qatar na makuha ang suweldo at end-of-service benefits na hindi ibinigay ng kanilang employer.
Sa pakikipagtulungan ng Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO)-Doha sa Qatar Ministry of Administrative Development Labor and Social Affairs naibigay ang suweldo at benepisyo ng mga empleyado na inalis sa trabaho noong nakaraang taon.
“We are grateful for the assistance given by the Qatar government that compelled their previous employer to give the affected OFWs all the salaries and benefits due them,” ani Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
Ang 59 OFW ay nagtatrabaho bilang engineers, site supervisors, foreman, plumbers, riggers at karpintero sa Leighton Contracting Company. Nagtatrabaho na sila roon ng dalawa hanggang limang taon.
Inalis sila noong Disyembre 2019 dahil sa “redundancy” o pagkakapareho ng kanilang trabaho sa ginagawa ng ibang empleyado.
Hindi umano ibinigay ng employer ang suweldo at benepisyo ng mga OFW kaya nagreklamo ang mga ito sa POLO.
