UMAPELA si Quezon City Rep. Alfred Vargas sa Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) na pag-aralan ang panawagan na payagan ng bumiyahe ang mga motorcycle-hailing app gaya ng Angkas, JoyRide at MoveIt.
At upang makasunod sa health protocol, dapat umano ay nakasuot ng personal protective equipment ang mga driver.
Ayon kay Vargas libu-libong empleyado ang hirap sa paghaharap ng masasakyan dahil sa kakulangan ng pampublikong sasakyan.
“I am aware of the reservations in allowing our people to back-ride in motorcycles because of the risks of COVID infection. But we are now in the mode of re-starting the economy and easing quarantine rules. We have to provide acceptable mobility arrangements for them rather than just open the floodgates for people to go back to the streets and fighting for the non-existent public transport. People waiting in the street for hours to get a ride and then spend hours in a bus are more prone to get infected than riding a motorcycle with masks, goggles and PPEs,” ani Vargas.
Marami umanong empleyado ang nakikipagsapalaran dahil wala silang kikitain kapag hindi sila pumasok sa trabaho.
“Let’s have more compassion and rationality as we continue to find acceptable ways so that our people can safely go back to work and feed their families,” dagdag pa ng solon.
Marami rin umano ang natatakot na masibak sa trabaho kaya kahit na nahihirapan ay pumapasok.
Ayon sa Philippine Statistics Authority umakyat sa 17.7 porsyento ang unemployment rate noong Abril. Ito ay 7.3 milyong katao at karamihan sa kanila ay nasa National Capital Region.
