INAASAHANG maaprubahan sa huling linggo ng sesyon ng Kongreso ang panukala na magbibigay ng dagdag na proteksyon sa mga health workers at overseas Filipino workers laban sa diskriminasyon kaugnay ng coronavirus disease 2019.
Ayon kay House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez naipasa na sa ikalawang pagbasa noong Miyerkules ang panukalang COVID-19-Related Anti-Discrimination Act (House bill 6817).
“We recognize each person’s fundamental right to be free from discrimination in this time of COVID-19 pandemic. Equality should be observed at all times,” ani Romualdez. “This measure is scheduled for third and final reading approval this week.”
Dahil sa takot na mahawa ng COVID-19, may mga tao na ipinagtatabuyan ang kanilang mga kapitbahay na health workers at OFW.
“While boosting our country’s economic potential, we also approved a bill that aims to protect the life and limb of our health workers now in the frontline of our war against COVID-19. We are moving to grant them full and inviolable protection against all forms of prejudice and discrimination as they continue to provide medical care, logistical, and service support to our people in this age of pandemic,” saad ni Romualdez.
Ayon kay Romualdez, hindi maitatanggi na sakripisyo ng mga health workers upang mapagtagumpayan ng gobyerno ang laban kontra COVID-19.
Sa ilalim ng panukala ang mga tao na lalabag ay makukulong ng anim na buwan hanggang 10 taon at pagmumultahin ng P200,000- P1 milyon depende sa ginawa.
Sa Huwebes ang huling sesyon ng Kongreso at muling magbubukas sa Hulyo 27, ang araw ng ikalimang State of the Nation Address ni Pangulong Duterte.
