HINDI umano totoo na nagdagsaan ang tao sa mga mall matapos ipatupad ang Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine gaya ng kumakalat sa social media.
Sa virtual hearing ng Defeat COVID-19 Adhoc Committee-New Normal Cluster, sinabi ni Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez na 20 porsyento lamang ng normal na pumupunta sa mall ang naroroon.
“These are actual pictures…we made an inspection yesterday (Sunday) just for me to see and verify the various fake news coming out that there are so many people violating social distancing during the opening of malls,” ani Lopez habang ipinapakita ang mga litrato sa mga miyembro ng komite.
“So we checked personally some malls in the metropolis that were usually full on Sundays. Dito we can see na hindi naman ganun kadami ang tao,” dagdag pa ng kalihim.
Taliwas umano ito sa mga litrato at video na kumakalat sa social media kung saan makikita ang mga magkakadikit na tao sa loob ng mga pamilihan.
“While we were interviewing, doing a quick survey, the crowd is only about 20 percent of what a typical Sunday afternoon [is], pre-COVID,” saad pa ni Lopez.
“Ang talagang open were the supermarkets and drug stores. Because even the food areas were only for take out and delivery. So konting-konti po ang tao,” dagdag pa ni Lopez.
Iginiit ng kalihim na isang tao lamang ang maaaring umukupa sa dalawang metro kuwadrado habang nasa tindahan sa loob ng mall.
Mayroon din umanong mga marshals na nagbabantay upang tiyakin na sumusunod ang mga pumapasok sa mall.
“So those are just examples of what we saw. Again there is no truth to all the fake news trying to discredit what the government has just decided even partially [by] 50 percent, many of the stalls inside the malls.”
