MAGSASAGAWA ng pagdinig ang Joint Congressional Energy Commission sa Biyernes kaugnay ng impact ng coronavirus disease 2019 sa energy sector.
Ayon kay House committee on energy chairman at Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco posibleng matalakay din ang reklamo ng mga kustomer ng Manila Electric Company sa mataas na bayarin ngayong Mayo sa kabila ng pagbaba ng singil nito.
“As part of its oversight functions the JCEC may also inquire into recent reports of overbilling and compel energy stakeholders to find a solution that would best serve their consumers and stakeholders,” ani Velasco sa isang pahayag.
Sa virtual hearing ay ipatatawag ang mga opisyal ng Department of Energy, Energy Regulatory Commission at Distribution Utilities gaya ng Meralco.
“….as we hunker down to weather the ravages of the current pandemic and the ensuing ‘new normal’, we could only do so successfully by working together and keeping in mind that the best way forward for the energy sector lies in what is in the best interest of the consuming public and the Filipino people,” saad ni Velasco.
Maraming kustomer ng Meralco ang nagrereklamo dahil sa laki ng itinaas ng kanilang babayaran, ang iba ay nag-triple umano.
Hindi nagsagawa ng meter reading ang Meralco noong Marso at Abril at ang ginamit ay ang average ba konsumo sa nakaraang tatlong buwan.
Maaaring mas mataas umano ang konsumo noong Marso at Abril at dumagdag ito sa bill ng Mayo kaya ito lumaki, ayon sa Meralco. Nagsimula ng mag-reading ng metro ang Meralco noong Mayo 6.
