NAKAPAGTALA ng .2 porsyento Gross Domestic Product sa unang bahagi ng 2020, ang unang naging pagbaba ng GDP simula noong 1988, ayon sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Ang malaking pagbaba ay nagmula sa manufacturing, transportation and storage, at accommodation and food service activities.
Ang pangunahing economic sector na bumaba ay ang Agriculture, forestry, and fishing sector (0.4 porsyento) at Industry sector (3.0 porsyento).
Lumago naman ang services sector ng 1.4 porsyento.
“On the expenditure side, items that declined are: Gross Capital Formation (GCF), 18.3 percent; Exports, 3.0 percent; and Imports, 9.0 percent. Meanwhile, Household Final Consumption Expenditure (HFCE) and Government Final Consumption Expenditure (GFCE) posted positive growths of 0.2 percent and 7.1 percent, respectively.”
Ang Net Primary Income (NPI) sa buong mundo ay bumaba naman ng 4.4 porsyento at nagresulta ito ng 0.6 porsyentong pagbaba sa Gross National Income ng bansa.
