“Their release signifies our resolve to thwart the criminalization of community-initiated bayanihan and the strength of our collective calls to resist the tyrannical and militaristic implementation of the community quarantine. We are not letting the PNP get away with their ridiculuous charges against advocates of health and women’s rights amid the pandemic,” saad ng pahayag ng Gabriela.
“Likewise, we will intensify the call for the immediate release of other activists and relief workers, including Gabriela Women’s Party third nominee Lucy Francisco, who have been wrongfully charged and detained on Labor Day for merely helping our poor and hungry kababayans.”
“The true spirit of bayanihan and people’s collectivism will prevail over the militaristic “bayanihan” that the Duterte administration wants to uphold amid the community quarantine.”
