DAPAT ay payagan umano ang optional early retirement ng mga empleyado ng gobyerno na nais ng manatili sa bahay sa takot na mahawa ng coronavirus disease 2019.
Ayon kay Ako Bicol Rep. Alfredo Garbin Jr., may mga empleyado ng gobyerno na mas gusto na magretiro na.
“I believe Optional Early Retirement can be one of the general community quarantine solutions to make people older than age 56 stay at home,” ani Garbin. “Early retirees from government service can become work at home entrepreneurs like many of the younger generation who set up new businesses or go into online business.”
Inaprubahan na sa Kamara de Representantes ang House Bill 5509. Nakabinbin naman sa Senado ang apat na kaparehong panukala.
“House Bill 5509 went through proper study and consultations, including the GSIS (Government Service Insurance System). Contrary to some pundits’ views, this does not upset the pension system. In fact, the net effect on Filipino families and the national economy is a big plus because early retirees avail of their pension sooner, can spend more quality time with family, or embark on a new career or business.”
