SUPORTADO ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) ang panawagan ng pamahalaan na umiwas sa pag-organisa, paglahok at pagdalo sa mga events kung saan maraming tao ang pumupunta.
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni POC president Abraham Tolentino na ang suspensyon ng mga sporting events ay nararapat para makaiwas sa paglaganap ng binabantayang novel corona virus.
Sang-ayon din ang POC sa ginawa ng Philippine Sports Commission sa pagkansela o pagsuspindi ng mga sports activities nito para mapigil ang pagkalat ng novel coronavirus sa bansa.
“We must always put the safety of athletes, coaches, officials and spectators at the very top of our priorities,” sabi ni Tolentino, na isang congressman ng Tagaytay City.
“We therefore urge all National Sports Associations and other groups associated with the POC, to heed the call for prudence and await official announcements from appropriate agencies with regards this issue. We also enjoin everyone to take the necessary precautions amidst this growing health concern,” dagdag pa ni Tolentino.
