UMABOT ng 50 metric tons ng basura ang nahakot sa Rizal Park noong kapaskuhan, ayon sa National Parks Development Committee (NPDC).
Unang kinolekta ang basura ng Manila City Department of Public Services, na iniulat naman sa NPDC na tinatayang 50 hanggang 51 metric tons ng basura ang nahakot mula hapon ng Disyembre 25 at Huwebes (Disyembre 26) ng umaga.
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni NPDC Executive Director Cecile Lorenzana-Romero na nakolekta ang basura sa mga plastic garbage bag.
“We are confirming the huge volume of garbage collected during the Christmas Season at Rizal Park but the garbage collected was less compared to last year,” idinagdag ni Romero.
Tiniyak ni Romero na plano nilang magpatupad ng trash segregation program para isulong ang disiplina sa Luneta.
Unang binatikos ng EcoWaste ang kawalang pagmamalasakit ng mga namamasyal.
