AYAW palagpasin ng Alliance of Concerned Teachers ang ginawa umanong pangha-harass at pambu-bully ng tv at radio anchor na si Raffy Tulfo sa isang guro ng pampublikong paaralan.
Sinabi ng ACT na hindi binigyan ng due process ni Tulfo ang guro na si Melita Limjuco ng isalang niya ito sa trial by publicity sa kanyang programang Tulfo in Action noong Nobyembre 21.
“The trial by publicity launched against Ms. Limjuco was unfair, malicious, and injudicious. It denied her of her right to due process and caused her injustice—something that Mr. Tulfo has notoriously done in his show by acting as judge in all sorts of disputes despite his lack of knowledge and training on the matters at hand, then delivering ‘Tulfo justice’ based only on his whims,” saad ng pahayag ng ACT.
Sinabi ng ACT na hindi rin perpekto ang mekanismo sa mga eskuwelahan para sa mga reklamo ng child abuse na dapat ayusin ng DepEd.
“As second parents, teachers recognize and do their best in performing their responsibility to instill discipline among the hundreds of students they handle every school year and in ensuring that their environment is safe and conducive for learning. However, this duty should not be shouldered by individual teachers but by the entire institution to which we belong.”
Sa kasalukuyan ang opisyal na ginagamit umano ng DepEd ay ang Positive Discipline in Everyday Teaching na maganda sa teorya subalit mahirap na gamitin sa paaralan ng mga guro na humahawak ng 60 estudyante sa isang klase.
“It is therefore imperative that sufficient institutional and governmental support be provided for teachers’ performance of their role in student discipline and classroom management.”
Inirekomenda ng ACT ang pagbaba sa 35 ng bilang ng mga estudyante sa isang silid aralan, pagkuha ng mga full time guidance counselor sa eskuwelahan at pagkakaroon ng positive discipline handbook na pagbabatayan ng mga dapat na gawin ng mga guro.
