Ayon sa EcoWaste Coalition may na-detect itong toxic chemicals na mapanganib sa kalusugan sa mga K-Pop merchandise na nabili nito sa Divisoria sa halagang P35-P240.
“Some plastic accessories inspired by popular South Korean K-Pop bands and artists contain lead and other toxic metals,” ani Thony Dizon, Chemical Safety Campaigner ng EcoWaste.
Sa 11 sinuri, anim ang mayroong lead na 414 hanggang 5,831 parts per million. Ang pinakamataas ay ang “Cooky” luggage tag.
May na-detect ding arsenic at cadmium sa mga ito.
Wala namang na-detect na toxic chemicals sa itim na “BTS” rubber wrist baller, kuwintas na may “Chimmy” pendant, puting “RJ” luggage tag, “Tata” hair clip, at water container na may “Chimmy” character.
“We make this information public not to spoil the pleasure of Pinoy K-Pop fans, but to encourage them to be inquisitive when buying items featuring their idols,” ani Dizon. “Consumers have the right to be protected against products that may pose hazards to health or life.”
