Tambalang Maine-Carlo matalbugan kaya ang tagumpay ng KathDen?

THE path which Kathryn Bernardo is treading seems to be the same as what Maine Mendoza wishes for her career: ang bumaklas sa loveteam.

Kathryn’s latest blockbuster film (with Alden Richards) only reaffirms na puwede naman pala siyang gumawa ng pelikula not necessarily with Daniel Padilla, with or without personal issues getting in the way.

Kung hindi kami nagkakamali, that with Alden is Kathryn’s secod movie nang hindi katambal si Daniel.

We’re not sure though how Kathryn’s movie with Sharon Cuneta fared at the box office.

But one thing’s for certain though, it didn’t make as much as her film with Alden did.

Unspoken/unwritten rule din ang bigyan ng pagkakataon si Alden to be paired with other actresses. A rule which also applies to Maine, hence, her movie with Carlo Aquino.

The difference is that Alden is not just a name. He’s a brand, at this sadly cannot be said of Carlo na mahusay nga, pero kapos naman sa ilang aspeto.

Paired with Maine, we honestly think that their film (an old, trite expression) stands to duplicate the Kathryn-Alden film in terms of number of theatres, first day gross take, breadth in scope, etcetera.

Not even a vigorous PR handle would work, sa tingin lang namin.

These being the “givens,” the challenge is more on Maine’s shoulders. Albeit a team work, mas mataas ang inaasahang maide-deliver ni Maine lalo pa’t sa kanya nagsimula ang kagustuhang makalaya out of the loveteam syndrome.

Si Maine na rin ang siyang nagbuwag ng mythical AlDub Nation, now a fragmented, flagless republic whose number of citizens has decreased dramatically.
