MAGHAHAIN ng P710 wage hike petition ang Trade Union Congress of the Philippines ngayong Lunes.
Pupunta ang TUCP sa National Capital Region Regional Wage Board ngayong umaga para ihain ang petisyon na lubos umanong kailangan ng mga ordinaryong manggagawa.
Taliwas sa datos ng gobyerno, sinabi ng TUCP na marami pa rin ang mahirap na pamilya sa bansa.
Ayon sa Philippine Statistics Authority at National Economic Development Authority ang minimum amount na kailangan ng isang pamilya upang hindi maikonsiderang mahirap ay P349 kada araw o P10,481 kada buwan.
“TUCP insists that workers in the highly urbanized region should already be receiving a minimum of P1,247 salary in order for ordinary workers and their families live normal and decent lives.”
Sa kasalukuyan ang minimum sa Metro Manila ay P537 kada araw.
“The current P537 wage for minimum wage earners in Metro Manila is highly insufficient in the light of rising costs food and services caused by taxes and inadequate government services and social protection assistance to poor Filipinos.”
