BEFORE Holy Week, Regine Velasquez reacted on Department of Foreign Affairs Sec. Teddy Locsin Jr.’s statement about Chinese getting endangered giant clams.
“I am not going down in history as a clam defender, okay? It’s a complaint; we’re looking into it; but these are just fucking food; no one goes to war for clams (maybe Oysters of Locquemariaquer) but they just happen to be OUR food. They should pay for them like in fish market,” Sec. Teddy said.
“Ang akala ko pa naman matalino ka. Ako ay [simpleng] tao lamang na may simpleng pagiisip. These people are invading our territory they are not just taking food [sinisira] nila ang ating karagatan!!!!” came Regine’s reaction.
And then Ben Tulfo bashed Regine in his Facebook Live session as reported by an online portal.
“Ang mensahe ko sa ‘yo, Regine Velasquez, next time you open your mouth, think. Make sure na may laman ang utak mo. Make sure alam mo ‘yung isyu and you can talk about it.
“Hindi mo ito balwarte. ‘Yung kaalaman mo, itago mo na lang. Gawin mo na lang, una, kung paano ka manumbalik sa publiko na kilala ka pa The Songbird of Asia. Hehehe. C’mon, be real. Ang pagkanta-kanta mong ‘yan, hindi uubra sa sinasabing eto ‘yung mga issues na delicate.
“Kung ako sa Bitag, nagsasalita sa isyu, I try to stay away from that until mababalanse ko. If you pick on somebody like Teddy Locsin, come on, lalamunin ka niyan. He’s gonna chew you up, spit you out.”
That was his long aria against Regine.
“Ano bang alam nitong si Regine Velasquez other than kumanta lamang? Kung hindi man, career na medyo dwindling down and so, speaking up like may alam pagdating sa mga foreign relations or foreign affairs.
“So, ‘yung statement nitong si Regine Velasquez, for me, is something na nakisawsaw, nakiangkas sa isyu na wala naman talagang alam,” dagdag pa niya.
Sobra namang minaliit ni Ben si Regine. What was wrong with the Songbird’s statement? Did it reek of idiocy? Hindi naman, ha.
As a celebrity, Regine has the right to articulate her reaction and make public her thoughts. May masama ba doon?
Nakiangkas? Nakisawsaw? Hindi ba puwedeng she just articulated her thoughts? So are you saying na ang mga celebrity pala hindi na puwedeng magsalita about issues involving government? You conveniently forgot na maraming celebrities ang pumasok sa mundo ng politics, so bakit hindi sila ang tirahin mo?
Ang daming may pinag-aralan na politiko but sadly they don’t make sense. Wala silang concern sa ating bansa, marami pa sa kanila steal by the millions and by the billions.
Regine should be lauded for making a stand and take note, hindi siya politikong nakikisawsaw to be relevant at nagbabayad siya ng tax kaya may right siya para magsalita. In a world of malfunctioning idiots in politics, we would always welcome a Regine Velasquez who is concern about her country.
