KINUMPIRMA ng Presidential Security Group (PSG) ang paggamit ng bullet-proof glass presidential podium tuwing nagtatalumpati si Pangulong Duterte sa labas ng Malacanang.
Sinabi ni PSG Commander Jose Eriel Niembra na ito’y sa harap naman ng patuloy na banta sa buhay ni Duterte.
“PSG decided to put bullet-proof glass on the presidential podium because the activity was situated in an open area. Whilst our President wanted to have close encounter and dialogues with the people, PSG acknowledges the need to balance security and accesibility of the president,” sabi ni Niembra.
“PSG’s mandate is to protect the President, thus, multi-faceted threats are usual considerations. With or without outstanding threat, it is but imperative for PSG to implement the highest security protocols,” ayon pa kay Niembra.
Sa kanyang talumpati sa Malabon City Martes ng gabi, inihayag ni Duterte na gawa sa bullet-proof glass ang kanyang presidential podium.
“In every engagement, assessment of the venue is conducted in order to determine the type of security measures needed to be enforced,” dagdag ni Niembra.
