Babaeng gov’t workers, dumami

TUMAAS ang bilang ng mga babaeng empleyado ng gobyerno, ayon sa Civil Service Commission.

Ayon kay CSC Commissioner Aileen Lourdes Lizada sa survey ng Inventory of Government Human Resources, sa 1,835,118 empleyado ng gobyerno, 1,086,164 o halos 60 porsyento ay mga babae.

Mas marami rin ang mga babae na humahawak ng second level positions. Mayroong 842,868 (65.91%) babae kumpara sa 435,899 (34.09%) na mga lalaki.

“These figures reflect the CSC’s recognition of the importance of women as contributors to nation-building. As the premier human resource institution of the Philippine government, CSC joins the nation in highlighting the critical role of women in our society, as well as in advancing their rights and protection, especially in the workplace,” ani Lizada.

Ayon kay Lizada mayroong underrepresentation ang mga babae pagdating sa third level positions—ang posisyon na kinabibilangan ng mga undersecretary, assistant secretary, bureau director, at regional director.

Malinaw umano na hindi nasunod dito ang Magna Carta of Women na nagsasabing dapat ang mga babae sa third level position ay kapantay ng bilang ng mga lalaki.

“The higher ranks in government is still male-dominated with 57% male holding third level positioned,” ani Lizada.
