TINUPAD ng Fil-heritage athlete na si Natalie Uy ang pangakong maghahatid ng gintong medalya para sa Team Philippines matapos nitong burahin ang national women’s pole vault record Miyerkules ng hapon sa ginaganap na 2019 Ayala Philippine Athletics Championships sa City of Ilagan Sports Complex sa Ilagan City, Isabela.
Nilagpasan ng 24-anyos na dating Eastern Michagan University athlete na si Uy ang 4.12 meter bar sa kanyang unang attempt para maging unang national record breaker sa torneong inorganisa ng Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (Patafa) at suportado ng City of Ilagan, Ayala Corporation, Milo Nutri-Up, Philippine Sports Commission, Soleus, LTimeStudio, Cherrylume at Foton.
“I am so happy that I was able to perform here for the first time. I’ve been wanting to compete here and I am so very happy that I was able to prove myself and even set a new Philippine record,” sabi ni Uy, na ang ama ay tubong Cebu.
Binura ni Uy ang 11-taong pole vault national record na 4.11 meter na itinala ni Deborah Samson sa California Regionals noong Marso 22, 2008.
