BILANG bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng Women’s Month, inilungsad sa Araneta Center at SPARK! Philippines ang #DontTellMeHowToDress Exhibit.
Ang exhibit ay bahagi ng “Respeto Naman” campaign at kaugnay ng mga suot ng mga babae na nakararanas ng gender-based violence sa bahahay. eskuwelahan, trabaho at komunidad.
Ayon kay Ambassador Harald Fries, ng Embassy of Sweden, na nakiisa sa paglulungsad ng proyekto, isang Filipina ang nagagahasa kada oras sa Pilipinas.
“At the heart of the “Respeto Naman” campaign is the message of the importance about respect – respect for women’s basic human right for body ownership and respect for safe spaces for women regardless of their line of work, what they are wearing, where they are, or who they are. Nothing can ever justify harassment, violence, or rape,” ani Fries.
Sinabi ni Fries na tama na sa Quezon City inilagay ang exhibit dahil dito mayroong ordinansa laban sa catcalling at iba pang uri ng pambabastos.
Layunin ng exhibit na ipakita na ang mga damit na suot ng mga biktima ng pang-aabuso ay mga ordinaryong damit na isinusuot ng maraming kababaihan. Dapat din umanong itama ang maling kaisipan na kasalanan ng mga babae kung bakit sila nahalay o naabuso.
“Sexual harassment, sexual abuse is never, never the fault of the survivor,” Kato emphasized. “Stop the victim-blaming. Let’s put the blame on who should be blamed – the perpetrator!” ani Iori Kato, country representative ng United Nations Population Fund.
Ang “Don’t Tell Me How To Dress” Exhibit sa Gateway Mall ay bukas sa publiko hanggang sa Marso 8.
Isang Women’s Bazaar din ang isasagawa sa Gateway Mall mula Marso 15- 17 upang i-promote artisanal Pinay-made items.
