DINUROG ng University of Santo Tomas ang Batangas-EAC, 94-70, sa pagsisimula ng kanilang kampanya sa 2019 PBA D-League Lunes sa Paco Arena, Maynila.

Ipinarada ni UST coach Aldin Ayo ang kanyang mga bagong player na kinabibilangan ni Beninese forward Soulemane Chabi Yo na nagtala ng 19 puntos, 11 rebound at dalawang shotblock.

Nagpakitang gilas din ang bagitong si Rhanz Abando na kumana ng 17 puntos, siyam na rebound at dalawang assist habang si Brent Paraiso ay nag-ambag ng walong puntos, anim na rebound at limang assist.

Ipinakilala rin ng Growling Tigers ang 18-anyos nitong guard na si Mark Nonoy na kumamada ng 15 puntos, limang rebound, dalawang assist at isang steal at naging pinakabatang player sa kasaysayan ng PBA D-League.

“Masaya kami kasi nakapaglaro agad ng maayos ‘yung mga bago. Nakapag-adjust sila agad,” sabi ni Ayo.

“Unang liga namin ito na big league. Masaya naman ako na hindi kami masyadong tight and nailabas nila ‘yung laro nila. ‘Yun lang naman, gusto lang namin na mailabas ‘yung pineprepare namin.”

Ang senior playmaker na si Renzo Subido ay nagdagdag ng 11 puntos, limang assist at apat na rebound para sa UST na nakakuha agad ng panalo sa Aspirants Group.

Pinamunuan ni Earvin Mendoza ang Batangas-EAC sa itinalang 14 puntos, tatlong steal at dalawang rebound mula sa bench.
