MAY natisod kaming shared post sa Facebook, bakit may araw nga naman ng mga puso (as it is today) pero walang “araw ng mga utak”? Makes sense.
Sa anatomy nga naman (patulan ba namin?), mas mataas ang utak kesa sa kinalulugaran ng puso. Ergo, marapat lang na mas pairalin natin ang utak than emotions in whatever circumstance.
But is it not ideal for anyone to strike a balance between mind and heart, depending on what a particular situation calls for?
Ah, basta, let’s not spoil this day specially meant for those who are either in love or simply in love with the idea of love.
Sa araw na ito, two Feb. 14-born showbiz figures come to mind (ieetsa-puwera namin ang yumaong kaibigan na si Gas Gayondato, former editor of Tumbok na sister tabloid ng pahayagang ito), sina Kris Aquino at Heart Evangelista.
Common to both ay ang pagkakataon naming makatrabaho sila: Kris on GMA’s Startalk during its early stage and on PTV 4’s The Kris Aquino Show, Heart sa mga nalalabing taon ng Startalk.
Both Kris and Heart were fun to work with. Magaan silang katrabaho, but what gave Kris the edge was that she made our job a whole lot easier.
So, tribute ba ito sa dalawang nagdiriwang ng kanilang kaarawan ngayon? Hmmm, mala-mala.
Between the two, mas metikulosa si Kris sa pagtapak pa lang niya sa istasyon. The van that took her to the studio was her walking closet, kumpleto kundi man sobra pa sa mga kailangan niyang isuot: from shoes to outfits to accessories.
In stark contrast, Heart was a minimalist. Kung ano ang kanyang suot upon setting her foot sa GMA, ‘yun na ‘yon unless she was required to do wardrobe changes on Startalk’s important occasions.
With regard to their hosting style, hindi mga pa-know-it-all sina Kris at Heart. When in doubt, they never hesitated to ask questions mula sa mga writer assigned to their segments. Humihingi pa nga sila ng tips on how to confront their subject.
Mas nakakasorpresa nga lang si Kris who you very well knew did her homework. Personally, just when we thought we did our job well, hayun ang hitad, may sarling input na hindi naman nanggaling sa amin.
But little did Kris realize that somehow, ipinamumukha niya sa kanyang mga writer that she could do better, short of saying she had little trust in them. Kabaligtaran ‘yon sa kaso ni Heart who had so much respect for her co-workers to the point nga lang na hahanapan mo siya ng maiaambag from her own painstaking efforts.
All told, masayang katrabaho sina Kris at Heart as each of them offered a new dimension sa mga separate interviews nila while other female TV hosts perhaps did not, and do not.
Para sa amin kasi, ang isang mahusay na TV host—regardless of gender—is one who’s not largely dependent on cue cards or idiot boards o sa mga kumpas at senyas ng creative staff on the set while the program is in progress.
Sa aspetong ito nasukat namin noon ang hosting gift ng dalawa, well, save for one episode—before we forget—nga pala ng The Kris Aquino Show.
Made to sit at the panel was a common tao who, in the middle of the interview proper, sounded like Sto. Niño na ikinaloka ni Kris. Hagip na hagip sa camera ang knee-jerk reaction ni Kris na animo’y nag-ipun-ipon sa gitna ng kanyang mukha ang iba niyang facial parts making it look like a crumpled piece of paper na ibinabad sa suka.
Kris had to pause for a commercial break. And that was funny, funnier than America’s Funniest Videos.
