POPS FERNANDEZ AT MARTIN NIEVERA
CONFLICT sa schedules ang rason ni Martin Nievera kung bakit hindi niya natanggap ang offer sa kanya ng foreign show na The World’s Best ng CBS Network bilang isa sa judges na magsisimula na sa Feb. 3.
Unang in-offer kay Martin ang show at nakuha naman siya. Pero hindi naayos ang schedule niya para sa tapings ng international reality talent search kaya ang ex-wife niyang si Pops Fernandez ang inirekomenda niya bilang kapalit.
“Actually, I really got it. So I went on a FaceTime audition which I’ve never done and asked me these questions and I was just being myself and okay, I was in. ‘You’re exactly what we’re looking for.’
“I gave my schedules and it so happened that there’s everyday taping for the show, I have concerts in different city. So I tried to get out of my commitment including Ana Puno’s shows but she was willing in fairness, to move the whole concert which was almost sold out so I can have this international break. But I couldn’t get out of my schedules!
“So this was what happened. ‘Sorry, Martin, we really want you. We have already organized our taping days. We can’t meet your schedules. Do you know anyone else that you could fit you that could play your role.’
“‘I have co-host for many, many years and I think she would be very, very good.’ What’s her name?’ I told, ‘Pops Fernandez.’ ‘My God she’s also on the list!’
“’How do you know her?’ So I said, ‘My God how do I know her? Well, we have two kids.’ Binaba na ang phone. They didn’t know what you all know about me and Pops.
“They wanted to have both of us to do it. In fairness sa judges, ‘I really, really cannot!’ So they spoke to Pops and fixed the schedules.
“Of course, the funny thing is I’ve always wanted that. When we talk about international, I’ve always wanted that break! And I was so fixated about that. So much so, I’ve actually lost Pops and the kids!
“Coz I’m so hungry for fame, international fame! And finally it is here and who do I give it to? The person I lost!
“That’s God. ‘Ahh ganoon, huh!’ But I’m so happy I gave to Pops. So I’m so happy she got this good break and I’m really rooting for her that she represents the country well!” mahabang paliwanag ni Martin sa nakaraang presscon ng Valentine concert nila ni Lani Misalucha, ang “Timeless Classics” on Feb. 14 sa PICC Plenary Hall.
