NANINIWALA ang dating chief trainer ni Manny Pacquiao na si Freddie Roach na kayang patumbahin ng Pinoy boxing superstar si Adrien Broner sa kanilang World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight title fight sa Enero 19 (Enero 20, PH time) sa MGM Grand sa Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Ito ay kahit na inihahalintulad kay Mayweather si Broner dahil sa kanyang pagiging isang defensive, counter-punching fighter.
“He’s a counter-puncher and doesn’t come to us much, he’s the type of guy that sucks you in,” sabi ni Roach. “But we’ve dealt with that before, I mean he’s not our favorite type of fighter.”
Pero kumpiyansa si Roach dahil mismong si Pacquiao na ang nagsabi na habol niya ang knockout na panalo sa four-division champion na Amerikanong boksingero.
“He told me he’s gonna knock this guy out, he’s never said that to me in my life. So I’m happy where’s his head right now. If a knockout comes it’s good but I’m happy that he wants a knockout because that means he’s got his killer instinct back,” dagdag ni Roach.
Sinabi pa ni Roach na kapag tumama ang mga suntok ni Pacquiao kay Broner sigurado na ang knockout win. Huli namang nakatikim ng KO win si Pacquiao sa ilalim ni Roach noong 2009 kontra Miguel Cotto.
Sa pagtitimon ng kanyang matalik na kaibigang si Buboy Fernandez, nakatikim muli si Pacquiao ng KO win matapos patumbahin si Lucas Matthysse ng Argentina sa ikapitong round noong Hulyo sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Kaya naman naiisip na ni Roach na patutumbahin ni Pacquiao si Broner sa mga huling round ng laban.
“I don’t want the referee coming to the rescue (of Broner), I want him laid out,” ani Roach.
