NAKAKA-PROUD naman ang Fil-Am actor na si Darren Criss na siyang nag-uwi ng Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series for his role bilang Andrew Cunanan (na isa ring half-Pinoy), sa The Assassination of Giannie Versace: American Crime Story sa katatapos lang na Golden Globe Awards.

Nakakatuwa si Darren hindi lang dahil siya ang kauna-unahang Fil-Am na nagwaging Best Actor sa Golden Globes but because he is very proud to be Pinoy.

Sinabi ni Darren na isa sa mga paborito niyang bagay about himself ay ang pagiging half-Filipino.

“I feel like I have been given a superhero cape and I am glad to step up to that plate. It’s a great privilege — and I am proud to be part of that,” sabi pa niya.

Proud din niyang sinabi during his speech na, “So enormously proud to be a teeny-tiny part of that as the son of a firecracker Filipino woman.”

Dream lang daw niya na makarating ng Amerika and get invitations to “cool parties” gaya ng Golden Globesn “So mom, I know you’re watching this. You are hugely responsible for all the good things in my life. I dedicate this to you.”

Ang ina ni Darren ay si Cerina Criss na taga-Cebu at isang Spanish-Filipina. She was born in Cebu but later migrated to the United States.

Ipinanganak si Darren sa San Francisco, California and occasionally, umuuwi siya ng Pilipinas at nakapag-perform na rin sa Ayala Malls.

Tinalo ni Darren sa pagka-best actor sina Antonio Banderas (Genius: Picasso), Daniel Brühl (The Alienist), Benedict Cumberbatch (Patrick Melrose) and Hugh Grant (A Very English Scandal).
