NAGBIGAY ng statement si Presidential spokesperson and Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo sa pagkalaglag ng name ni Nora Aunor in this year’s roster of National Artist.
“In God’s perfect time, we are optimistic that she will be proclaimed as a National Artist. Her non-inclusion does not diminish her iconic stature as the country’s Superstar and her significant contributions to film, theater, television and music industries,” say ni Atty. Panelo.
“Her non-inclusion is to spare Ms. Nora Aunor from the emotional and psychological torment coming from the barrage of mixed reactions the award will bring.”
“Her phenomenal rise to movie and musical stardom that counted a generation of shrieking and adoring fans unparalleled in the movie and music industry is a walking testament to her mesmerizing artistry and singing voice and the people’s acceptance. She truly is the crowned people’s artist.”
MS. NORA AUNOR IS STILL YOUNG?!?! seryoso?!? Anong kalokohan yan?!?
One fan defended Ate Guy and said, “1. Being a national artist does not require you to be of a certain age. That’s like saying dapat di nanalo si Kirsten Dunst ng Oscar for ‘The Piano’ because she was still young.’
“2. Undeniable ang contribution ni La Aunor sa film industry. Ano ba ang criteria na hindi na-meet ni Nora? NBI Clearance? Blood test? kulang sa kapit? di ko talaga gets. #dontmekuya.”
“Bago ka ma-highblood te, paki-fact check. Hindi talaga mananalo si Kirsten sa The Piano kasi wala naman sya dun (nor has she won for any movie). Maybe you were thinking of Anna Paquin?” one guy reacted.
But this one, coming from Noel Vera, says it all, “Nora Aunor doesn’t need a National Artist Award. No, the award needs Nora, to retain credibility.”
