Kahapon nagwakas ang Sunday singing search ng GMA, and up to its last episode ay hindi kinakitaan ang Asia’s Songbird ni katiting na disinterest o panghihinawa sa kanyang hosting job despite persistent talks na wala nang magaganap na contract renewal with the network.
Consistently, Regine —mula sa umpisa hanggang sa pagtatapos—had never failed to deliver a high level of energy expected of her.
“Where the husband is the wife goes” lang ang peg. Of course, there’s an exception to this.
Ang batikang TV director na si Arnel Natividad ay asawa ng dati naming nakatrabaho na si (Mader) Mildred who’s one of GMA’s program managers. Sa kaso nila, never sinundan ng misis ang mister.
Understandable naman sa kaso ni Regine why she’d opt to jump ship. Kung meron pa sanang station-produced musical program ang GMA, Regine would have stayed put.
Saan naman kasi iso-showcase ni Regine ang kanyang husay sa pag-awit when there’s hardly any venue for it? Ang Sunday PinaSaya naman ay isang blocktimer, and the show wasn’t designed as a platform for singers.
