PINANINDIGAN ng Valenzuela Regional Trial Court ang nauna nitong desisyon na nagbabasura sa kasong droga laban sa siyam na indibidwal na isinangkot sa pagsmuggle ng P6.4 bilyong halaga ng iligal na droga mula sa China noong isang taon.
“I have been informed that our motion for reconsideration was denied,” ani Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra.
Ayon sa Valenzuela RTC Branch 284, nabigo ang DOJ na magpresinta ng bagong ebidensiya para mabaligtad ang naunang desisyon nito noong Abril 23.
Tiniyak naman ni Guevarra na iaakyat ng DOJ ang kaso sa Court of Appeals.
“We will question the trial court’s ruling before a superior court (Court of Appeals). We maintain that transport of illegal drugs is a distinct offense from illegal importation which ends at the customs area,” dagdag niya. “The illegal importation case pending at RTC-Manila is not affected by this adverse ruling.”
