WATCHED “I Love You, Hater” and we felt that this movie is worth every penny.
The movie centers on various lies that some of the characters do to make themselves achieve more and in some instances, to make their loved ones feel secure.
Julia Barretto is Zoey, a daughter trying to eke a living out of being disowned by her father. Joshua Garcia is Joko, a guy who made his family believe that he’s got a nice job.
Kris Aquino is Sasha, the digital empress battling her own spot on her father’s heart.
The three characters weave an interesting story about how lies are made, how they are discovered and how it pays to be honest in the end.
As Zoey, Julia displayed in great abundance her own sensitivity as an actress. She was cute
in her pabebe scenes, heart-wrenching in her dramatic situations. For this one, she bettered herself as she breathed life to her character with ease.
Ever reliable, Joshua who initially lied and pretended to be gay, is perfect for the role.
His nuanced interpretation of his character gave his adoring audience a glimpse of how it is to play a character – with perfection.
As for Kris, she was the personification of her digital empress character – seasoned, witty, sosyal, bossy but with a heart.
There are a few scenes which tugged the heartstrings. One was the day Joshua displayed his kabaklaan for the first time. Two was the father and daughter scene between Kris and Ronaldo Valdez. Coming in third was Joshua’s pleading not to divulge his secret. Four, Julia’s long aria against Joshua near the elevator.
Hindi kami iyakin because we believe that crying is a sign of defeat but we shed a tear in those dramatic highlights.
That said, we felt that everyone needs to watch this film. Pronto!
