KMU iginiit ang P750 minimum wage matapos ang P1 jeepney fare hike
ISINULONG ng militanteng labor group na Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) ang P750 na arawang sahod matapos naman ang implementasyon ng P1 provisional fare hike para sa mga jeepney.
Sinabi ni KMU chair Bong Labog na ipinapasa ng gobyerno sa mga pasahero ang pasakit dulot ng epekto ng Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law sa presyo ng mga produktong petrolyo.
“The fare hike is not intended to help workers in the transport sector. A P1 fare hike won’t help drivers and operators put food on the table, or send their children to school, or pay rent or utility bills,” sabi ni KMU chair Bong Labog.
“Instead, the fare hike is intended to pass on to commuters the burden of paying for overpriced and overtaxed fuel, which the Duterte administration brought on itself through anti-people measures such as TRAIN and oil deregulation laws,” ayon pa Labog.
Kasabay nito, nanawagan si Labog na ibasura na ang TRAIN law.
“It is enraging that the Duterte administration has responded to the plight of the Filipino people with a fare hike instead of a wage hike,” ayon pa kay Labog.
