“I saw that the GILAS brawl against AU was all over the news. I read some of the critical comments, and i felt compelled to make a stand.
“I don’t claim to be close to them, but @coachot (Chot Reyes, head coach of Gilas Pilipinas) has been kind to me. I’ve seen Coach Jong (Uichico, Gilas Pilipinas deputy coach] at the Meralco Chapel, but i’ve never met @tbvrome07 (Terrence Romeo).
“But we did watch what transpired over & over again, even in slow-mo…The team is suffering enough, and they have given so much effort for our country.
To tolerate such behavior would only bring more damage to the image of our country as a whole. They represent our country and yes, they make us proud.
“They are our role models. That is why we deserve better than what transpired out of their actions. The smart thing to do is accept that we did wrong and should apologize for the unruly behaviour our players exhibited.
“This isn’t the time to raise our flag and shout for unity or #PinoyPride. To many we are wrong. We should learn how to own up to our mistakes.”
Ayon sa coach ng Gilas, “Tonight, my emotions got the better of me like a father who cares about his sons. That does not excuse my actions and I apologize to everyone as in hindsight I should have not gotten involved. This is a painful but maybe necessary lesson for me.”
Komento ni @venezia1011, “While I applaud you for making a this stand, just curious why the silence when Duterte insulted abd made a mockery of God—the very same God that you believe in and have very strong faith on. It was all over the news, too. You courage should have mattered more!”
Ito naman ang tugon ni Kris, “You don’t have to directly confront in order to make a stand—but you can speak of your FAITH & how much being God’s loving follower has shaped your life…
“Sometimes your message is clearer when you choose speaking of the good that God has done in your life rather than pointing out the shortcomings of others,” pahayag ni Tetay.
Dagdag pa ng mommy nina Joshua at Bimby, “Mahirap mangialam sa religious or non religious beliefs of others. Because for me—whatever your faith is—it is the acceptance of Jesus as your Savior & Redeemer. A very personal relationship between you & your Maker—and how you live your life & share His blessings will be the proof of your faith.”
