Sanib-pwersa: Bossing, Coco balak ‘patumbahin’ si Vice sa 2018 MMFF

MMFF 2016 noong magsanib-puwersa sina Vice Ganda at Coco Martin. The following year, however, had them live their lives separately.

Nabalita ngang nagbunga ng gap ang pagkakaroon nina VG at Coco ng respective entries last year, with the former reportedly refusing to give way to the latter.

Ang kay Vice nga naman, bakit siya—at hindi si Coco—ang magpapaubaya gayong taun-taon nama’y meron siyang festival entry? Hence, may “The Revengers” si VG, may “Panday” naman si Coco.

Pero mukhang lalo pang “mapapanday” ang element of “revenge” sa kanilang pagitan with a new twist in this year’s MMFF. Ang last year’s tail-ender at the box-office na si Vic Sotto at ang pumangalawa lang kay Vice (who’s been a consistent box office superstar) na si Coco have forged their unholy alliance.

Magsasanib-puwersa raw sina Vic at Coco laban kay VG in their bid to reclaim box-office supremacy.

That remains to be seen dahil hindi pa naman iniri-release ng kampo nina Vic-Coco kung anong tema ng pelikula ang ipantatapat nila kay VG. Pero kung si VG ang tatanungin, nagbunga raw ng magandang resulta ang pakikipagmiting niya sa Star Cinema kung ano ang kanyang magiging festival entry.

On top of this is VG’s unshaken attitude na hindi siya threatened kung dalawa ang sasalpok sa kanya.

Hindi pa man ay exciting na ang MMFF ngayong Disyembre, at least for the kids out there for whom the annual event has been designed after all.

But too much is expected of the Vic-Coco partnership. Dapat lang na sila ang maging top-grossing film. If two heads are better than one, we’d like to think that they are stronger, too, at the box-office.
