Zumba King hahataw sa Kaogma fest, gagawa ng record sa Guinness

RON ANTONIO

RON Antonio, the acknowledged Zumba King, is making an attempt to make a Guinness record on May 19 opening of Camsur’s KAOGMA Festival with 20,000 attendees.

Ron used to be part of the group Wiseguys. Then he discovered zumba in Australia. Before that, he released “Zayaw Pilipinas, the first ever zumba-inspired album in the world which was used by zumba instructors. For it, he was nominated for Star Awards best dance album.

“It feels great to be back in showbiz. Mas masaya ngayon compared to before kasi grabe ka-enthusiastic ‘yung mga followers ko, ‘yung mga zumba goers. Talagang die-hard sila in supporting me,” he said.

He explains why zumba clicked with Pinoys.

“Nag-click kasi sayaw siya. Siyempre, tayong mga Pinoy ay mahilig sumayaw at gusto natin na sumunod. ‘Di ba may instructor kasi. Basta may nagli-lead, okay sa atin ‘yon.

“One of my advocacies is lahat tayo mag-zumba hindi lang kababaihan, mga mommies. I want everyone, the dads, the fathers, the children to do zumba. For it to become a family activity,” he said.

This guy teaches regular zumba classes sa Parañaque.

“Marami tayong influences sa sayaw. So, basically, ina-adopt natin ‘yung iba’t ibang sayaw sa mga kanta. Actually, ang zumba or Zayaw Filipinas, for that matter, madali siyang sundan kasi may pattern, so paulit-uli lang para madaling sundan,” he shared.

Attempting to set a new record, he said that he is doing this “just to prove to everyone na tayo sa Pilipinas ay mahilig sumayaw, mahilig mag-exercise. Iyon ang advocacy natin, healthy living.”

“Very rewarding ang zumba talaga kasi health-wise nakakatulong. It’s a good cardio-vascular exercise so it’s for the heart. At saka siyempre nakakabata. At mapapansin mo masaya sila kasi happy hormones ang nilalabas mo. You don’t feel you’re exercising kasi nag-e-enjoy ka, kasama mo ang barkada mo,” he added.
