Sa isang briefing, idinagdag ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque na bagamat natutuwa ang pamahaan na naaresto na ang itinuturong pumatay sa biktimang si Joanna Demafelis, nais ng gobyerno na matiyak na sila ay mapaparusahan.
“As of now, the deployment ban stays because the latest statement on this made by the President was when he visited the wake of Joanna, and he said that not only must they be apprehended, they must be punished,” sabi ni Roque.
Kasabay nito, sinabi ni Roque na ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Duterte sa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ang paghahanap sa recruiter ni Demafelis para malaman kung kailangan din silang managot sa pangyayari.
“Well, he wanted the NBI to question the recruiters actually. Because under our scheme, the local recruiters are actually—ultimately liable ‘no for what happens to the Filipino deployed by the agencies for overseas ‘no. So that’s what the President wants to find out no,” dagdag ni Roque.
Idinagdag ni Roque na hinihintay pa na kusang humarap ang mga recruiter sa NBI
“But if they will not appear, then they will of course—they could be taken into custody for investigation. But let’s see if they will voluntarily appear,” ayon pa kay Roque.
