PH women’s tennis team vs Kyrgyzstan sa Fed Cup

AGAD na makakasagupa ng Philippine women’s tennis team ang Kyrgyzstan matapos ang isinagawang draw Lunes ng hapon sa pagsisimula ng 2018 Asia Oceania Zone Group II Federation Cup sa Isa Town, Bahrain.

Ang koponan ng Pilipinas ay pamumunuan ng Filipina-German na sina Katharina Lehnert kasama sina Anna Clarice Patrimonio, Khim Iglupas at ang nagbabalik na si Marian Jade Capadocia.
Ang Kyrgyzstan team naman ay binubuo nina Ksenia Palkina, Saara Kunakunova at Kunykei Koichumananova.
Nalagay sa Group B ang Pilipinas na second seed sa torneyong ito.
Kasama ng Pilipinas at Kyrgyzstan sa Group B ang Singapore.
Nasa Group A naman ang top seed na Uzbekistan kasama ang Lebanon at New Zealand habang nasa Group C ang third seed na Malaysia kabilang din ang Oman, Iran at Pacific Oceania.
Ang Group D ay binubuo ng 4th seed Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka at host Bahrain.

Umaasa si Team Pilipinas coach Czarina Mae Arevalo na makabalik ang Pilipinas sa round robin phase ng torneyo kung saan ang top two teams ng bawat grupo lamang ang makakausad.

Ang Fed Cup ay ang pinaka-prestihiyosong international team competition para sa women’s tennis na nagsimula noong 1963. Unang sumali ang Pilipinas dito noong 1974. —Angelito Oredo
